Compare Two Groups of Data

Find the center and the spread of each group, then compare them.

ExampleFive measurements of heights were taken from each group.
Team A: 24, 26, 27, 28, 29 cm
Team B: 35, 35, 37, 38, 40 cm
Find the median and the range of each group, then say which group tends to be higher and whether the two groups overlap. Team A: median 27 cm, range 5. Team B: median 37 cm, range 5. Team B tends to be higher — its median is 10 cm greater. The two sets do not overlap at all, so the difference is clear-cut.
