Graph Equivalent Ratios

Plot each column of the table as a point (x, y), then look at the shape they make.

Plot each pair on the grid. What do you notice about the points, and what does the point at x = 1 mean? The pairs are (1, 8), (2, 16), (3, 24), (4, 32). Plotted, they lie on a straight line through the origin — that is what equivalent ratios always look like on a graph, because every pair has the same dollars earned-to-hours worked relationship. The point (1, 8) gives the amount for ONE hours worked — the unit rate, 8 dollars earned each.
