Square and Cube Root Equations — Mixed

Take each root. The √ symbol names only the positive square root; a cube root has exactly one value.

Example
x²=9
x=3 or −3
because 3² = 9 and (−3)² = 9 as well. Both signs solve the equation. Note that the SYMBOL √9 means only the positive root, 3 — the equation has two solutions, the symbol names one.
